ENTANDA YA BUGANDA DIASPORA 2026

CBSFM Masengere House. 12:00 AM

Preserving Culture, Strengthening Identity and Connecting the Baganda Worldwide September 2026 | Live on 88.8 CBS FM and Zoom In September 2026, CBS FM 88.8 – Ey'obujjajja will take the rich cultural heritage of Buganda beyond Uganda's borders through the Entanda ya Buganda Diaspora 2026, a special edition of the popular cultural programme Entanda ya Buganda. The initiative is designed to bring together Baganda and friends of Buganda living across the world, creating a unique digital platform where children, young people and adults can participate, learn and celebrate the cultural practices, traditions, norms and values that connect them to Buganda regardless of where they live. ABOUT ENTANDA YA BUGANDA Entanda ya Buganda is one of CBS FM's popular cultural programmes, dedicated to promoting and preserving the history, traditions, values, language and cultural identity of the people of Buganda. Broadcast on 88.8 CBS FM – Ey'obujjajja, the programme provides an opportunity for listeners to engage with cultural knowledge and discussions while connecting generations through the traditions and values of Buganda. The programme's special Entanda Diaspora segment extends this cultural conversation to Baganda living outside Uganda, allowing them to remain connected to their heritage despite the geographical distance. The programme normally features late-evening sessions beginning at approximately 10:00 PM (ssaawa nnya ez'ekiro). ENTANDA YA BUGANDA DIASPORA 2026 This year's initiative is being expanded to create a stronger connection between CBS FM and the Baganda diaspora community around the world. For the first time in this initiative, CBS FM will provide a live digital viewing experience through Zoom, allowing registered participants and audiences outside Uganda to follow and participate in the programme remotely. The digital platform will make it possible for participants in different countries to join the cultural experience without having to physically travel to Uganda. From Africa to Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East, Australia and other parts of the world, participants will have an opportunity to be part of a shared cultural space. REGISTRATION NOW OPEN Registration for Entanda ya Buganda Diaspora 2026 is ongoing and will continue until September 2026. Participants will be required to provide basic registration information, including: Full name Telephone/contact number Country of residence The registration process will help CBS FM identify and connect participants from different countries while creating a structured database of the diaspora community participating in the programme. It will also allow the organisers to understand the geographical reach of the initiative and ensure that participants from different parts of the world have an opportunity to take part. A PROGRAMME FOR BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS A key focus of Entanda ya Buganda Diaspora 2026 is intergenerational cultural preservation. The programme will engage children, young people and adults, recognising that cultural knowledge must be passed from one generation to another if traditions and values are to remain relevant and strong. For children growing up outside Uganda, the programme provides an opportunity to learn about their heritage, understand their roots and develop a deeper appreciation of Buganda's cultural identity. For adults and parents living in the diaspora, it provides a platform to share cultural knowledge with younger generations and maintain a connection with the traditions they grew up with. The initiative therefore seeks to bridge the gap between generations by creating conversations where cultural knowledge can be shared, discussed and celebrated. KEEPING THE BAGANDA CONNECTED TO THEIR ROOTS Living outside Uganda can create physical distance from one's cultural environment, but Entanda ya Buganda Diaspora 2026 seeks to demonstrate that distance does not have to mean losing one's cultural identity. Through radio and digital technology, CBS FM is creating a platform where the Baganda diaspora can continue to engage with their culture, language, history and traditions. The initiative is built around the belief that understanding one's origin and maintaining a sense of belonging are important elements in strengthening cultural identity. It will encourage participants to continue practising, teaching and sharing the values and traditions of Buganda wherever they live. FROM RADIO TO A GLOBAL DIGITAL COMMUNITY For many years, CBS FM has used radio to connect communities and promote Buganda's culture. With Entanda ya Buganda Diaspora 2026, the station is taking another step by combining traditional broadcasting with digital technology. The integration of Zoom will allow the programme to become more interactive and accessible to audiences outside Uganda. Participants will not simply be listeners. The digital platform will create opportunities for members of the diaspora to participate in the cultural conversation and interact with other Baganda from different countries. This represents a new approach to cultural broadcasting—bringing together radio, digital platforms and community participation. WHY ENTANDA YA BUGANDA DIASPORA MATTERS The initiative comes at a time when many Ugandans and Baganda are living, studying and working outside the country. For families raising children abroad, maintaining cultural identity can be challenging. Young people may grow up surrounded by different cultures, languages and social environments. Entanda ya Buganda Diaspora provides a platform through which families can reconnect with their heritage. The programme will promote the idea that: Wherever you live, you can still know where you come from. Through cultural conversations, participation and knowledge sharing, the initiative aims to strengthen the relationship between the diaspora and Buganda.
